Starlab Mobile Planetarium

enhancing science at all d181 schools

Supporting the Curriculum

District 181 Foundation has partnered with the D181 Department of Learning to purchase a Starlab portable planetarium, which will be used at all schools. We have committed to provide $30,000-- have the cost of the planetarium.

Immersive, interactive and inspiring – StarLab provides enriching curriculum for a variety of topics including astronomy, meteorology, and geology. Not limited to these areas, it can be used to create immersive experiences for any topic.

The inflatable dome and state-of-the-art projection system is easily transported, able to hold an entire class, and can be set up in 20 minutes.

Why a Starlab?

All it takes is one spark of curiosity…one moment of inspiration…one immersive learning experience to set students on a path they otherwise might not have explored.

From scientists, astronomers, geologists, and meteorologists to professors, environmentalists, and anything in between, all it takes is the right active learning opportunity to inspire a sense of awe in students. And while it doesn’t always lead to future scientists, it almost always results in students who become adults empowered with the scientific literacy skills to understand and respect the world around them.

Family Learning Nights

Join us for an unforgettable immersive learning experience for the whole family

Two 25-minute programs each night. Wear comfortable clothing. Seating in the planetarium is on mats on the floor. Space is limited. Registration is required. Maximum ticket order is 4 per family.
