It is with great sadness that the family of Danette Boegner Riehle announces her passing on March 21, 2022. Danny passed away surrounded by her family.
Danny was a unique and special person who will be remembered forever. Her soul was gentle but her influence on the lives of anyone touched by her was strong. To know Danny was a gift. She was quick to smile, never judged and was the best listener in the world.
Her love of family was evident. Danny was a mother who cared for her children and grandchildren more than anything in the world. She inspired love and creativity in each of their hearts. She taught each of her children to be the kindhearted people they are today. The legacy of her love has filtered into the lives of hundreds as she shared the same incredible love and concern with her students. Danny never stopped teaching. She taught us grace - always.
Danny joined Hinsdale School District 181 in 1983 and spent the next 29 years teaching at Monroe Elementary School. She was a master teacher who never gave up her core beliefs about how children learn, what all children need to succeed, and believed that all children had gifts. Danny’s talents knew no bounds. She shared her artistry, beautiful writing and love of nature with her students and used them to teach many concepts. She was instrumental in the creation of the award winning Monroe School Living Classroom and served on the board of the District 181 Foundation. Danny helped Monroe School win the U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Award that promotes a green, healthy place for children to learn.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family: Richard J. Riehle, his wife Ellie Anderson, children Nola & Othon; Andrew J. Riehle, his wife Lanny and their children Erin and Megan; Peter J. Riehle, his wife Alissa, and their children Lauren and Charlie; Danette K. Riehle, her husband Matt Louy, their children Kiara, Maddox and Danette “3D”; her sister Sheila Mooney, her husband John and their children Angelica and Maria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Cobb” Riehle.
