Kids Initiating a Difference in Society (“KIDS”)
Guidelines and Instructions
The District 181 Foundation is dedicated to enriching the educational experience of each child in District 181. Education takes on many forms. More and more, we have seen students in our community, on their own initiative, develop new ideas, organize fundraisers, conduct food, clothing and toy drives, and engage in all kinds of service activities for the benefit of others. Through KIDS Grants, individual students will be given seed money to help put their ideas into action and make their neighborhoods, communities, state or world a better place to live.
Instructions
1. Download the KIDS Grant Application Form from www.d181foundation.org. The form may be printed and filled out manually or downloaded, typed directly on the electronic form and saved.
2. Fill out the application form completely. Your completed application should clearly answer all these questions: WHY: What is the purpose of your proposal? What problem are you trying to help solve and who will you be
benefiting?
Remember all grants must benefit the public, community and/or environment. No grants will be accepted
that result in direct personal gain. Check out examples of approved grants at www.d181foundation.org.
WHAT: What activity will you be doing? What are the key tasks you need to accomplish?
WHO: Who will be working with you? An adult sponsor must sign the application. Will other students be involved? How many?
KIDS Grants are open to all District 181 students and do not need to be carried out at school. They may be used to support a project through any organization a student participates in, i.e. scouts, religious groups, other non-profits or community groups. Adult sponsors may be a teacher, parent, scout leader, etc.
WHEN: When are the proposed activities expected to take place? Are there any time constraints the Foundation needs to know about?
WHERE: Where will the activities happen?
HOW MUCH: Provide an estimated budget that provides details about the expected costs.
The maximum amount awarded for a KIDS Grant is $150. KIDS Grants must be used to support student activities and cannot be a direct donation to another organization.
3. Submit your application to the District 181 Foundation.
Paper applications should be mailed to District 181 Foundation, PO Box 715 Hinsdale IL 60522. Electronic applications should be emailed to KIDSGrant@d181foundation.org.
